about

Photos by Amanda Powell.

Portland, Oregon-based Crimson and Clover Photography offers wedding, lifestyle, and birth photography wherever and whenever you want it. While I am based in Portland and I shoot predominantly in the Pacific Northwest, I am available to shoot a few weddings a year in Alabama (my family lives there!) and surrounding states — so don’t be shy!

My name is Stephanie, and I’m your photographer.

I’m a little bit of everything: coffee fiend, flower child, geek, artist, wife, mother, cyclist, vegetarian… I love staying up late and watching indie moves or reading books in which the girl gets the guy and the guy gets the girl, or maybe the guy gets the guy and the girl gets the girl.

I like speaking and writing in long sentences that are a little nonsensical.

I spend a lot of time with my husband Sean, our son Jasper, and our adopted mixed-breed dog. Sean and I are unabashed Star Wards nerds (we almost named our son Kenobi), and if you know us for any length of time Star Wars (or Harry Potter) is probably going to come up.

I fell into wedding photography almost as if by accident, but I like to think that it was a serendipitous turn of events. My wedding career technically began right before I graduated in 2008, but I’ve spent most of my life documenting everything around me in some way or another — be it through writing, photographing, or blogging. I love people (so much that I have a BA in Sociology and Global Studies — I can’t get enough of humans!) and spend a lot of my non-photo time as the Managing Editor of Offbeat Mama. If you’re curious, you can also see a lot more of my (mostly) non-wedding work at my portfolio site, Stephanie Kaloi | Photographer.

Wedding days are some of my favorites: I love getting to the venue with the two of you, watching the nerves and anticipation build. I like getting to know your families and friends, and being part of such a huge day in the lives of all of you.

I’m so happy that you’re here today, and I can’t wait to talk to you about what you’ve been planning.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do you only take candid photos at weddings?
NOPE! This is one of the most often asked questions. I take photos of just about every single thing that happens at your wedding — from the time you guys are getting ready to the time you leave. I’ll get shots with you two and your families, of the first dance (if you have one) and everything in between — including plenty of candid, you-don’t-even-know-I’m-there kind of shots. I don’t blog the family shots because I feel like they’re personal — not everyone wants to be splashed across the internet.

Do you travel?
Totally! Email me and let me know what you have in mind, and we’ll get rolling on ideas!

Are your rates negotiable?
I am always, always willing to discuss this in person with interested parties. I believe strongly in offering a professional service that anyone can have, and will be happy to discuss payment plans or sliding scale plans if you’re interested.

When are my photos available?
Wedding photos are generally available online in 1-2 months, and the USB drives with your photos mailed out no later than two months after the wedding date. Portraits are usually available in 2-3 weeks, and the USB drive is mailed out no later than one month after the session date.
