Personal Post: getting to know Oregon
As some of you might know, my family and I recently moved back to Oregon this summer — in July 2012, to be exact. We lived in Portland a few years ago (our son was born here), and then moved back to Alabama where most of our family is. Since we both fell in love with the city pretty hard the first time around, my husband and I decided to move back to Portland, and… here we are!
We’ve been trying to take advantage of the free time we do have, so in between work, school, and general life stuff the three of us (well, four, since we usually bring our dog along) have been exploring various places all within an hour or two of Portland. Naturally we visited Cannon Beach pretty early upon arriving, and have also traversed the great Tillamook Cheese Factory and much of Oceanside. We’re not too picky — we even went to a combine tractor rally last summer!
We have also discovered that Portland is prone to offering you its own little adventures — there are so many fantastic parks in the city that have little nooks just waiting to be visited! We’ve spent a lot of time at various points on the waterfront, and are really starting to form a concrete relationship with the city we now call home.
Since I get to know the couples I’m lucky enough to work with pretty well, I thought it would be fun to share a few of our photos — here we go!

What other places should we check out!? Let me know!
Out and about: San Diego, CA
I recently spent a few days in San Diego shooting Alix and Justin’s wedding — which I am SUPER excited to share soon — and I of course took a few photos. I surprisingly (at least to me) didn’t take TONS of them, and the ones you’re about to see were actually taken in the hour or two I had between leaving Justin and meeting up with Alix the day of the wedding — just little snippets of downtown:

I HAD to include a few more sneak peeks of A + J:

Happy Halloween!

I’m a pretty big fan of all holidays, but Halloween is extra fun! This year my son and I are dressing as Darth Vader and Princess Leia (on Hoth!), and so far we’ve had a blast — I look forward to our trick-or-treating adventures later today! Hope you and yours are having a delightfully spooky day.
Road tripping and slumber partying with Kelli of Shindig Events
I recently journeyed to the wilds of Bellingham, Washington, to shoot a wedding at the PEACE ARCH! I like typing it in all caps and adding an exclamation point because the PEACE ARCH! is at the border between the US and Canada. So if you’re on one side you’re in the States, but if you’re on the other side of it you’re technically in Canada — without crossing the “official” borders with Border Patrol and all of that. I spent a lot of the day dancing back and forth between countries with Kelli, the owner/genius behind Shindig Events. Kelli and I have known one another since she planned an Offbeat Empire party in 2011, and when we discovered we were working the same wedding we started scheming road trips and slumber party FUN.
I naturally Instagrammed most of the weekend, and wanted to share a few shots:

Behind the Scenes: Beloved Festival 2012
So! I just spent last weekend traversing Oregon to co-lead a workshop about parenting with my Offbeat Empire boss, Ariel. We spoke at Beloved Festival, and the experience was incredible! I connected with a few parents, listened to The Luminaries (a very fascinating cross of hip-hop and jam band, by the way), and basically blissed out for a few hours before returning to Portland. In short, Beloved Festival = totally amazing.
